Lewes, DE--- Meet at the public beach in Lewes, DE at 6 p.m., every other Sunday Memorial Day- Labor Day 2011 for the “Lewes Beach Drum & Dance ”. Bring an instrument and learn how to form Middle Eastern rhythms with local drummer John Matthews and the group Jammbazz. Learn to bellydance with local dancers such as Viviana, Zatara, Ashira, Nadirah, and Roma. Bring your instruments (drum, zills, tambourine, etc) and hip scarves or they will be provided to first arrivals. Other props and toys are also encouraged such as hacky sack, hula hoops, poi, kites, and anything else family and beach friendly. Please use general “Leave No Trace” environmental ethic.  This event is located on the south side of the Lewes Beach Public Parking lot at the end of Savannah road, behind the Dairy Queen. Go to the far end of the parking lot and parking is free. Bring your family & friends, a chair and prepare to shimmy until the sun sets! This event is weather and bug permitting. Drum circles facilitate mindfulness and is a from of moving meditation. A drum circle unites people of all ages through rhythm of collective consciousness. A drum circle unites people of all ages through rhythm of collective consciousness. Drum circles have developed into three main types: "culturally specific", such as Middle Eastern or West African groups, "facilitated circles" with drums from any culture, and "anarchic" circles - improvised communal drumming with no designated musical leader. Bring a drum or other percussion instrument or just come for the experience. Percussion instruments include but are not limited to hand drums such as djembes, bongos, doumbeks, tablas, tambourines, shakers, frogs, sticks, cymbols, even bells! Instruments are recommended but not required. This is a free event, donations to the UU are appreciated.**In the event of inclement weather, drum circle meets at the UUFS: 2812 Old Ocean City Road, Salisbury, MD 21804**
